Collectors and dealers in the world of autographed cards have a reason to celebrate as CGC Cards™ and James Spence Authentication® (JSA®) have come together to launch a new partnership. This collaboration aims to provide a seamless experience for submitting autographed cards for authentication and grading, covering trading card games (TCGs), sports cards, and non-sports cards.
The Certified Collectibles Group® (CCG®) recently announced that CGC Cards and JSA have united to offer integrated services starting July 15, 2024. This joint effort allows collectors to submit their autographed cards for JSA authentication and CGC Cards grading and encapsulation through a single, streamlined process.
Building on the success of their previous collaboration for comics in May, this new service showcases the commitment of CCG to expand its autograph authentication offerings after acquiring JSA earlier this year. The future holds promise for combined authentication and grading services for magazines, pulps, and concert posters.
Coinciding with the National Sports Card Convention from July 24-28, CGC x JSA certification services for cards will be available at The National. Apart from regular submissions at the show and via mail, CGC Cards will provide comprehensive on-site services at the event, allowing collectors and dealers to have their cards authenticated, graded, and encapsulated on the spot.
CGC, known for pioneering witnessed signature authentication with its CGC Signature Series for comics in 2001, is now gearing up for the full launch of CGC Signature Series for cards. This initiative will offer autograph collectors a range of services leveraging the combined expertise of CGC and JSA.
JSA, founded by James Spence, Jr. in 2005, is renowned as the foremost autograph authentication service worldwide. With the world’s largest autograph database of nearly 1 million images, JSA employs cutting-edge technology and an extensive resource to ensure accurate authentication of autographs.
Autographed cards certified by CGC and JSA will sport a distinctive CGC x JSA Authentic Autograph label, highlighting the collaboration between the two brands. The label, featuring the “Authentic Autograph” designation in yellow, a color synonymous with CGC for genuine signatures, will also include autograph grading upon request. Additionally, the label will prominently display the autograph grade alongside the card’s grade and description, with CGC Cards Grader Notes providing detailed information about the signers.
For premium cards, CGC Cards offers the prestigious gold CGC x JSA Pristine 10 label, reserved for cards achieving the highest CGC Pristine 10 grade.
Steven R. Eichenbaum, CEO of CCG, emphasized the importance of this partnership, recognizing the significant impact it will have on the industry. James J. Spence, Jr., President of JSA, expressed his excitement about launching combined services for cards at The National, fulfilling a long-standing request from collectors.
To learn more about submitting cards for CGC x JSA certification, collectors can visit the CGC Cards website and utilize the online submission form. By selecting “JSA Autograph Authentication” after choosing their grading tier, collectors can initiate the submission process. Pricing for JSA autograph authentication is tier-based, with additional CGC Cards grading fees applicable.
With a shared commitment to excellence, CGC and JSA aim to provide collectors with top-tier services, ensuring that every submission is handled with expertise and care. This innovative collaboration marks a significant milestone in the collectibles industry, promising collectors worldwide an enhanced and streamlined collecting experience.
